Slowly but surely the team and momentum are growing! It would have been great if we could have started this whole process six months ago because I’m sure we could have used every bit of the time, but we’re believing that God’s timing is perfect and just doing our best to keep moving forward. We’re SO thankful for all of you who have and continue to support this project via social media, working with us, and monetarily – everything really means a LOT!Ā ā„
Today I want to introduce Kassi from the Truly Lovely blog! She’s coming on as our Head of HR and we’re sooo relieved to have her because we were really starting to get in over our heads before we’d barely started with developing our street teams and managing interviews and such.
Hey there lovelies! Kassi here! I’m a 20 something wife, fur-mommy, daughter, sister, friend andĀ blogging/craftingĀextraordinaire! haha! At least I like to think so! I live with my husband, two dogs and various other pets {including a little white donkey named Steve-O š } in Arizona. On any given day you might find me at my day job selling and supporting a fixed assets accounting software, reading my favorite blogs or books, or perhaps out horseback riding with the hubs.Ā My background is in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Marketing, but in November 2010 I was introduced to all things blog land. I jumped in head first and never looked back. Which brings me to my new appointment as Head of HR on the Blank Canvas Tour! My plan is jump in and have the most amazing time! Because really… that’s what it’s all about right!?!
Yes, Kassi, it’s all about having a great time getting to know new people and learning about their amazing dreams and stories, – thank you for being a part of it!
Speaking of being a part of it, have you watched the video Krista did about being a part of the team? She may or may not have been a littleĀ exuberantĀ š But it’s true that we’re excited to have you join us and be a part of this wonderful mission to connect people and encourage them in their dreams!
We’re also excited to be able to introduce that mystery TBD person, the 6th member of our team! We’re all meeting tomorrow to discuss details and game plans… ooooooh!
Basically, they’ll be spreading the word about the blank canvas’s arrival, letting us know any pertinent info about the city, and searching out the best spots forĀ BlankCanvasā¢Ā photo shoots and on-the-street interviews (or just generally cool places that we shouldn’t miss)
So basically, the street team gets to run around doing crazy things like madly waving flyers from a moving car (if you didn’t watch the movie, you might want to because the crazy intern might have actually done that…)Ā and representing the Blank Canvas Tour.
*note – If you don’t live near one of these locations, you can still join our team to spread the word via social media and scout out good stops and events you think we wouldn’t want to miss. There are lots of ways this whole thing could evolve, so jump on the ride!
But, as you saw in the movie, joining our street team isn’t the only way to spread the love.
Let people know about the Blank Canvas Tour via social media too!
That’s what we believe and we want to live it out through the 2012 Blank Canvas Tour, even if it’s not always easy. We’re inviting you to go on every part of this journey with us – the highs, the lows, the ups, and the downs. We want your help to start a new movement of living a life of adventure! Let’s dream big together!
So how do you get involved?
First, watch our promo movie, if you haven’t already, which explains what we’re all about.
Now check out this little (maybe somewhat humorous, especially if you know David)
video update that outlines how you can support us.
We’ll be doing this full time for the next few months, so we won’t have access to an income – we’re by no means rolling in the dough as it is, LOL! (or maybe more like not “LOL”) But we’re taking this leap of faith one step at a time. Don’t forget we want to give you fun stuff in return for your monetary support š
Any of the items we need that you or someone you know could donate or lend would obviously be amazing! (thankfully one tripod has already been lent! happy dance!!!)
Right now, we’re especially looking for a travel vehicle because with the 4 adults and 2 kids we at least need a van. If you or someone you know has connections that could set us up with something, you would totally rock our world and our hearts would probably actually explode out of our shirts because you’re so awesome.Ā (video reference, in case you didn’t watch it!)So what are you waiting for? Click now to give at least $1and make our day! Think of the children. (and anotherĀ video reference!)
We started a linkup for you to nominate someone to be featured in one of our videos, which we’ll be posting on our YouTube channel. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out Rhonda’s Kalona Coffee House story HERE.
Also don’t forget to watch some on-the-street interviews we did more recently!
We’ll be aiming to hit as many of these kinds of events as we can during the tour.
(we’ll be putting subtitles on the harder to hear portions of the first video, but it does show why we need a mic!)
Contact us with any questions or to offer leads š
Thank you for your time and support!
What would you do with $50 to spend at the Beauty of One OR for design with our other business, Kaleidoscope International?
Well with the giveaway we’re doing over at Framed Frosting right now that $50 could be yours – all you have to do is head over and enter!
{You could spend it on something like one of these!}
or
and many, many more products and possibilities!
PS. Our very first video interview will be up on the Beauty of One YouTube channel soon,
how exciting!
First of all, we want to say thank you so much to Erin of Indie Gift Box for becoming the first ad sponsor for the Blank Canvas Tour! Indie Gift Box is pretty awesome and we’re going to be part of the first boxes that will be getting sent out in July. Go check it out and send Erin an email to let her know you want to join the fun!
Second, have you visited our summer tour projectyet? Did you know that one of the sponsor rewards we have set up is download credits for the Beauty of One? That means that you can download BlankCanvas⢠files and all sorts of other pieces of art to keep forever!
Let me tell you, this is a DIY artist gold mine. Just imagine all the bajillions of things you could do with our work! We’ll be putting up some ideas as we go, but in the meantime, check out an example of variations that we do with one concept.
These are just some of the many, many pieces that will be available in our store! We have lots of items just waiting to get uploaded and will be making more all the time.
We’d love for you to visit our project and support us in our mission to spread encouragement – store credits are only one of the 11 options you can pick as a thank you for your sponsorship. Every dollar counts and means SO much to us. Thank you!
So we just ran across START.ac on Wednesday afternoon. We were almost ready to start putting our project up on one of the other crowdfunding sites we’d been checking out when some of the features of START caught our attention, one being that we could put everything up live before we actually launched, kind of like a test run, to get feedback about the way we had everything set up.
The site having just launched definitely made us think twice or three times about actually going with them, but we figured it wouldn’t hurt to just try it out for the audition week or so and then maybe use one of the other sites to actually launch. So we put our project up early on Thursday morning.
To our surprise, we got an email on last night (less than 24 hours from posting) telling us that our project could be launching as early as Sunday night. The plan had been to get caught up on other things over the weekend at least, but we quickly realized we needed to push preparations into high gear!
Truth be told, we hadn’t really even told anyone about the project yet because even though we had been working on the side towards launching it, the language we used when talking about it was always very tentative. It really didn’t seem like there was anything to discuss yet!
So now here we are, freaking out just a leeeetle bit about how insane this actually is…
David has been working on a press release and I’ve been working on refining our supporter rewards for the project (with a lot of help from Krista!) and we’ve both been working on getting the site updated – this section is totally new and we will be trying out the file downloads we’ve been planning to add for forever. I also have a lot of work to do in developing the framework for our tour team. I’ve set up the initial info here, so check it out!
Pray for sanity! š
