are you social?

Guys, we seriously suck at staying on top of all these details. You may have noticed. Thankfully we’re adding another great person to the team to help with all the social media stuff we’ll be doing! We want to promote everyone we’re interviewing and meeting along the way and we knew we couldn’t do ya’ll (see below šŸ™‚ ) justice by ourselves, so Jana (J) is going to be helping out in a big way. WHEW!

Hey, y’all, I’m J! I was born and bred in Texas, where I still live with my husband B, and our firecracker of a daughter, M.Ā I wear many hats, including event planner,Ā blogger, and writer, and when I’m not working, I spend my days playing dress up and finger painting with M.

We lead a quiet life in a town of roughly 2,000 people, so we don’t have a lot of adventures around here, which is completely unacceptable. If you’re going to live life, you should live itĀ to the fullest!Ā Ā I want to be able to look back on my life when I’m old and gray and know that I lived a colorful life. I want fascinating stories to tell to my grandkids that will make them “Ooh!” and “Ah!” inĀ astonishment. So,Ā Ā when I heard about the Blank Canvas Tour, I knew I wanted to help in some form or fashion. After all, they are living the type of life that I admire, full of adventure! And they’re seeking out others who are living life to the fullest as well! It just so happened that Tico and Tina were needing someone to head up the social media aspect of the tour, and since I have an ongoing love affair with anything social media related, I knew it was where I needed to be.Ā

I am so excited to be a part of this project, and I’m glad you’re along for the ride as well!Ā

We’re so happy to have J on the team, and so encouraged by her enthusiasm! Don’t forget to follow us with any/all of the social media options on our sidebar šŸ™‚

NOTE: for those who were previously subscribed via RSS, the feed was screwed up, so it will be deactivated after this – please do re-subscribe via the RSS button on the sidebar – it’s set up with the new feed. Thanks!

I’d like to just title this: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, it’s how we feel right now! After WEEKS of searching, and FAR too much time spent driving to look at vans (because we live in the middle of nowhere), last night our summer transportation was finally acquired!!!

SO THANKFUL.

We’ve also acquired a new camera for higher quality video that has audio input (I should say that Krista has acquired it, really šŸ™‚ ) and our mic setup should be coming today! About to be legit, friends. LOL.

So now the plan is to head out on Saturday morning for Indiana and be there for the rest of the weekend, then back to Chicago on Monday or Tuesday.

That means registering the van today, a little laundry, cleaning up our house/cleaning out our fridge, re-packing, finishing preparing the setup and system for managing videos and pictures on the road, etc.

I really hope we can remotely stay on top of all the things we’ll need to be doing! This has really been very much a one step at a time thing… Thank you all so much!

You should go check out what our virtual team member, Julie, had to say about our visit last week! (and don’t forget to check the “As Seen On” page for other posts about the tour) Here’s the little vlog Julie got us to do as we were on our way out the door – GOOD WORK šŸ™‚ She was also the one who gave us the idea to take a picture with each person we interviewed – yes, I think we’ll keep her.

it’s on!

And going strong… 2 interviews down, 1 or 2 more today!

We jumped right into it with a surprise interview on Tuesday night after we arrived here in Wisconsin and had a little coffee.

It’s been a great couple of days, veryĀ jam-packed! We’re really happy to be able to meet our virtual team member – she is a little less virtual and a little more like real life now šŸ™‚ Her family is pretty super awesome as well!

Here is another sneak peak of a photo shoot we did yesterday.
Girls just wanna have fun, you know.

Check out the vlog from the first day of tour while we head out for some on-the-street this and that.

Meet Clayton, the crazy inventor/radical fundraiser dude!
We’re going to be posting these pictures when they happen and the interviews will come later.Ā

Randall has been doing a sketch for each person that we interview.
Yes, there is an inside joke as to the diamond in the light bulb here šŸ™‚Ā

a new addition to the team!

Slowly but surely the team and momentum are growing! It would have been great if we could have started this whole process six months ago because I’m sure we could have used every bit of the time, but we’re believing that God’s timing is perfect and just doing our best to keep moving forward. We’re SO thankful for all of you who have and continue to support this project via social media, working with us, and monetarily – everything really means a LOT! ♄

Today I want to introduce Kassi from the Truly Lovely blog! She’s coming on as our Head of HR and we’re sooo relieved to have her because we were really starting to get in over our heads before we’d barely started with developing our street teams and managing interviews and such.

Hey there lovelies! Kassi here! I’m a 20 something wife, fur-mommy, daughter, sister, friend andĀ blogging/craftingĀ extraordinaire! haha! At least I like to think so! I live with my husband, two dogs and various other pets {including a little white donkey named Steve-O šŸ˜‰ } in Arizona. On any given day you might find me at my day job selling and supporting a fixed assets accounting software, reading my favorite blogs or books, or perhaps out horseback riding with the hubs.Ā
My background is in Agricultural Business and Agricultural Marketing, but in November 2010 I was introduced to all things blog land. I jumped in head first and never looked back. Which brings me to my new appointment as Head of HR on the Blank Canvas Tour! My plan is jump in and have the most amazing time! Because really… that’s what it’s all about right!?!

Yes, Kassi, it’s all about having a great time getting to know new people and learning about their amazing dreams and stories, – thank you for being a part of it!

Speaking of being a part of it, have you watched the video Krista did about being a part of the team? She may or may not have been a littleĀ exuberantĀ šŸ™‚ But it’s true that we’re excited to have you join us and be a part of this wonderful mission to connect people and encourage them in their dreams!

We’re also excited to be able to introduce that mystery TBD person, the 6th member of our team! We’re all meeting tomorrow to discuss details and game plans… ooooooh!

Paving the Way for the Blank Canvas

That will be the task of the Blank Canvas Tour STREET TEAM!

Basically, they’ll be spreading the word about the blank canvas’s arrival, letting us know any pertinent info about the city, and searching out the best spots forĀ BlankCanvas™ photo shoots and on-the-street interviews (or just generally cool places that we shouldn’t miss)

Want to know more about the street team? Check out this short movie!

So basically, the street team gets to run around doing crazy things like madly waving flyers from a moving car (if you didn’t watch the movie, you might want to because the crazy intern might have actually done that…)Ā and representing the Blank Canvas Tour.

And you can be as creative and crazy as you want! Fun stuff, right?

Could YOU be on our street team at any of these locations?

*note – If you don’t live near one of these locations, you can still join our team to spread the word via social media and scout out good stops and events you think we wouldn’t want to miss. There are lots of ways this whole thing could evolve, so jump on the ride!

Ā If you want to be a part of the tour, contact usĀ HERE.

But, as you saw in the movie, joining our street team isn’t the only way to spread the love.
Let people know about the Blank Canvas Tour via social media too!

building a small army

Hi everyone!
We are still here, time just goes so fast it’s like we blink and a week has gone by, argh.

There are a number of you who have offered your help and we are sooo thankful for that! We’ve started a facebook group to communicate about the deets, so let us know if you’re interested in being a part of it.

We decided earlier this week that time was getting a little short to go through a big process in picking a virtual team member for the tour, so we just went with the first one who applied, which happened to be Julie of the Funny Thing of It Is, so we knew it was a good choice! šŸ™‚

Hopefully being part of the team will make her feel less like this:

Ā and more like this:

As a virtual member of the Blank Canvas Team, she’ll do fun stuff with us, like this.

We’re sure you’ll love getting to know Julie just as much as we have!
We can’t wait to do crazy stuff together šŸ™‚

very excited to introduce…

…our new Head of PR!

Aloha! I’m Jessica- a Texas girl who followed her heart and ended up on a crazy little island in Hawaii. I found my niche in PR & Marketing which led me to finding a passion in working with small businesses. I tend to think that I live a pretty “normal” life but when compared to others, I realize that I haven’t always followed the road most commonly traveled. Why? Because being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocrity (I borrowed that quote from Will Smith). And being mediocre is one of my biggest fears. That’s what attracted me to Tico & Tina. Besides their obvious awesomeness, I love their love for life. They inspire me to live bigger and live better.

When the opportunity to be Head of PR for the Blank Canvas Tour came about, it was a no-brainer. As Head of PR, it’s my goal (and my job!) to spread the word about this incredible project so that you too can be inspired.

I hope you follow us along the journey of the Blank Canvas Tour- not only for us, but for you! And if you want to find out more about my personal journey, you can check it out at JessicaWho.ME

We’re so excited to have Jessica on our team, we’re just sorry that Hawaii isn’t part of our tour! šŸ™‚ If you’re interested in being a part of this adventure check out some of the opportunities we have so far, and we’ll be updating them throughout this month.
